Happy Birthday, Tyler ~ Gurnee Child Photographer

Make way for yet another KSP Baby Plan graduate. Remember Tyler's expressive face at three months old? He made an appearance in the fall mini-sessions at six months old. And then at nine months old we all drooled over his big, soulful eyes. Now, at one year old, he is smiley and on the move. What a great year it has been, watching Tyler grow!

Doing the ole' switcheroo ~ North Illinois Family Photographer

Messed around with a new blog banner this weekend. What do we think? I was trying to bring the size down a bit, but I'm not sure about the text. That helvetica font can come off a bit too thin sometimes, I think. What would you change? Pictures? Font? Layout? Scrap the whole thing and just put a picture of some cute kittens? Maybe not so much that.

 And since it is illegal to post without a picture, here's one of adorable one-year old Tyler being adorable and one year old. I'll get around to blogging his full preview one of these days.

 

All Boy ~ I Heart Faces

It's been awhile since I've participated in an I Heart Faces challenge, but as the mom of two boys I couldn't resist the "All Boy" theme this week. And what is more boy-tastic than blowing out the candles on your baseball birthday cake? Love this picture of my "all boy" boy.

Cooper Snaps ~ Chicago Lake County Baby Photographer

Been enjoying some much needed rest time lately. Not resting, really. There's t-ball and birthday parties and "real work" and dentist appointments (too too many of these, don't get me started), but I haven't been shooting much, anyway. Did go on a little mini-vacay with the husband. Blissful. Now getting geared up for the summer and fall season. Bring on the heat!

 In the mean time, how about a few snaps of Mr. Seven Months Old? Very snappity snap. Was in a black and white mood. Hope you don't mind.

Tuesday's Top 5 (Instagram Style) ~ Lake County Custom Portraits

There are a mere 79 days until the Summer Olympics begin in London. Who's excited? That would be a big, fat M-E, MEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To put my love for the Olympics in perspective, consider that I told my fourth grade teacher that I was going to be an Olympic figure skater when I grew up, ignoring the fact that I had never had a formal figure skating lesson in my life. And in the summer, my sister and I were the QUEENS of underwater gymnastics. I can so totally stick an underwater back handspring, back tuck. Seriously, stick a leotard on me and call me Kerri Strug. I'm awesome. So in honor of the upcoming games (in which, alas, I will not be competing), I present....


 MY TOP 5 FAVORITE (SUMMER) OLYMPIC SPORTS


5. Beach Volleyball. My husband and I like this sport for different reasons, but no matter, it is still fun to watch.
4. Diving. Don't deny it. You've stood at the edge of the pool and imagined yourself doing a double twisting somersault followed by a clean, splashless entry. And then you jumped in and soaked everyone within a ten foot radius.
3. Track & Field. Usain. Bolt. Holy. Crap.
2. Swimming. What's not to love about a sport where your country's guy wins everything. I mean, EVERYTHING.
1. Gymnastics. See above regarding childhood exploits. Kerri Strug. Shannon Miller. Dominique Dawes. I. Love. You.

Check back in two years for my fave winter events. And speaking of Usain Bolt, check out the hubster after finishing his first half marathon this weekend. He and Usain are like twins.

Baby Shores v2.0 is Six Months Old ~ Chicago North Shore Baby Photographer

I know it's totally cliche, but it seems like only yesterday that I was writing the post announcing that Baby Shores v2.0 was on the way. Not only wasn't it yesterday, it has now been a full six months (and then some) since v2.0 made his debut (and acquired a real name). Holy Time Flying, Batman!!!

 After a rough couple of months punctuated by words like acid reflux, dairy intolerance, torticollis, under weight, and "oh my God I have to get some more sleep before I eat someone," Cooper is now a mostly happy, somewhat easy going, trying to be on the move, entirely loveable, completely irreplacable member of our family. He loves to snuggle with his mom, take naps with his dad, and giggle at his older brother. He is perfect.

When we last met Lucas he was an adorable six month old, not yet on the move. Now he is an entire year old and off and running. Lucas was full of smiles when I met up with him, Mom and Dad at Cantigny Park. And who wouldn't be smiling when you have two parents who obviously love you so VERY very much?
